Calculating Needed Quantities of GLOW Stones USA (glass-ceramics and plastic resins) For Your Project.

The two pictures below represent the level of density used to calculate needed pounds of product for your project.  You may decide to adjust the quantities up or down to suit your desired look.

  • Multiply the width of one side, in feet, times the length of one side, in feet, of your driveway or space.  This is your needed square footage.

  • Divide your square feet by 16 (the level of coverage in the pictures above).  This is your needed pounds.

  • If you desire some or all of your areas to be more or less dense, figure accordingly.

  • Example: 20'x30' driveway = 600 sq. ft. divided by 16 = 800/16 = 38 lbs.

  • The picture above on the left is our size Medium GLOW Glass. 1 lb. = about 1100 pieces, so at this density of coverage, you will see about 65 pieces (about 1/3" each) in a 12" x 12" square. The 1" Classic Stones shown on the right will provide about 8 stones in a 12" x 12" square.

How Much Do I Need? for glow

This simple process will help you decide how much GLOW you want in your project. The first process is for the stones, both the Ceramic-Glass and the Resins.  The second is to help you calculate quantities for the pigments- Sand and Powders.  From the USA- GLOW Stones USA.

The next informational will guide you to figure out how much Sand or Powder Pigment you will need for a project and to cover a particular area.                                                                                               From the USA- GLOW Stones USA.

The pictures below show 2 oz. of Sand pigment in 1 square foot. This density of coverage is a starting point, and your needs may indicate adjusting the quantity up or down. The amount of epoxy or sealer used will vary with the number of layers you use (Click here for more information on Pigment Sand and Powders). In general, you should expect to use about 1.5 to 2 times the quantity of epoxy that your calculations indicate. For instance, if the coverage instructions for your epoxy indicate that 1 gallon will cover 100 sq. ft. then you can plan on using about 1-1/2 to 2 gallons of epoxy or sealer with about 12.5 lbs. or 200 oz. (5.68 kg.) of pigment, based on our standard density of glow calculations.

Calculating Needed Quantities of Pigment Sand or Powders for Your Project

To figure the square footage and glow product needed for your project:

  • Multiply the width of one side, in feet, times the length of one side, in feet, of your driveway or space. This is your needed square footage.

  • Multiply your square feet by .125 (the level of coverage for 2 oz. per square foot). This is your needed pounds.

  • If you desire some or all of your areas to be more or less dense, figure accordingly.

  • Example: 20'x40' driveway = 800 sq. ft. times .125 = 800 x .125 = 100 lbs.

  • Discounts start at 3 pounds. Contractors and wholesalers, contact us for the current pricing.
